more suffixes, baseball sentences, and some freebies!

May?? already?? Seriously, where did April go?!? It seems so crazy that we only have 26 days left. Not that I am counting down or anything!
So, this week has been nothing short of busy. Here’s a peek of what we’ve been up to!
We have been working hard on suffixes the past few weeks. This week has been all about comparative endings. So, to jazz up something rather boring, we made these accordion books!

I gave each of my kiddos a word card. They had to write the root word along with the two comparative endings on their white boards. After doing a quick spell check, they each got a large piece of manilla paper cut in half. Then, they had to fold their paper into fourths {hello fraction review!} zig zag style to create their accordions. They wrote their root word on the front of the book.

Next up, we played baseball….inside..{gasp}!! This would have definitely been outside if we didn’t have our Spring pics that day. All those pretty little dresses had no time for dirt! Let me just say that my kiddos told me that I am the world’s best pitcher! I can pitch a fast ball like none other! I’m pretty awesome like that.

Our game was slightly different from how baseball is played. Instead of *hitting* the ball, they had to *catch* the ball. Here’s how it went down. I threw the ball {sentence} to them, they caught the ball, read the sentence inside the ball, and had to tell me whether the sentence needed a period, question mark, or exclamation mark.

If they told me the correct punctuation, they ran to first base and so forth. We had loads of fun with this! Afterwards, the kiddos completed Batter Up for their independent work. You can click {here} to download these.

And, we have been celebrating Cinco de Mayo this week in our room with these little craftivities. You can find them {here}. To wrap things up, we will get our grub on with some chips and salsa tomorrow!!! Delicioso!

Before I go, I had to share a few of my fave outfits from the week. I think it’s fair to say I have a shopping problem. It’s ok, I have totally embraced my retail therapy…SmittenWithFirst_May-16 SmittenWithFirst_May-23
