Do you still get them?!? I certainly do….even after 5 years! Tomorrow is my first day back, and I still get SO excited to see all the little souls that God has given me to love and teach each day. I can’t wait!!
Tomorrow is also a huge day for our family! My little miss starts Kindergarten.

I am not sure who is more of a mess right now….the hubby or me!?!?
While out shopping this weekend {shocker, I know} I let her pick out different things that she thought her teacher would need. Once we got home, I realized everything she picked out was PINK!! So, to put it all together…her teacher’s card says:
“I am tickled pink to have you as my teacher”.
We had Meet the Teacher Thursday, as well as in-service this week…that might explain me being MIA this week. I wish I would have taken more pictures from that night. But, the two that I did get are 2 of my favorite things about Meet the Teacher that I wanted to share. One thing I love to do is give my parents these Blending Up a Good Year contact magnets. They are perfect for them to hang on their fridge!
I came across a similar idea last year on What the Teacher Wants and I knew I had to use them again this year. Click {here} to download these for free. This file is a PDF; you will need to write in your contact info.
Also, I love to give the kiddos a little treat when they come in! Last year I gave the kiddos {these}, but I wanted to change it up for this year. After seeing The Teeny Tiny Teacher’s adorable tags, I knew I had to make. Click {here} for the tags.
I know I am a bit late on posting these freebies…maybe you can save them for next year!
I am off to get some rest for our big day tomorrow!!

Teacher Week (major late) + a SALE = Sunday Smorgasbord!!

If you know me, being late is no surprise! Especially on my last week of vacation! It takes top priority!!

Today, I am linking up…late… with Blog Hoppin’ to show you my classroom digs, classroom management, as well as an organization tip! Bare with me. This post is all over the place.

I have been in the same room for 5 years now, which I am super thankful for! The only thing we are required to do if we stay in the same room is get things off the floor. If you plan to have your room painted, you have to take everything off the walls. Not getting my room painted made things a ton easier. I didn’t have to do much. Thank Larry!! A few things I added this year are these super adorable color and shape posters from Cara Carroll.

Teacher Week 13-1 Teacher Week 13-2

Way cute right? Is there anything she makes that isn’t cute?? I also took down my calendar area and replaced it with a word wall. I am planning to do calendar time on our Mimio this year. Calendar is great, but it sure does take up some major space!

Teacher Week 13-14

I have two boards in my room. The one on the left is where I keep all my daily/weekly rotations. I plan to blog more on those later.

Teacher Week 13-5

The one on the right is where most of our learning takes place. One of my very favorite things on the board is our “Where do they go” poster!

Teacher Week 13-10

In our classroom, we refer to letters as “small, tall, and fall” letters when writing. It sticks so well with the kids! They love this poster!

Although we will do our calendar time on the Mimio this year, I still plan to keep a calendar displayed for students to continually see and refer to. In this area I also have A Cupcake for the Teacher’s Star Jar {fabulous idea}, as well as Michelle Oakes “word on the bus”. I love her idea of having the kids sing a song with the sight word to the tune of “The Wheels on the Bus”. I also keep our spelling words displayed here, as well as Miss Kindergartens picture direction signs. And the signs you see at the top of the wall are our reading strategies from Cara Carroll!

Teacher Week 13-11

Next to the board is were our rules are displayed, again from Cara Carroll….can you tell I adore her store?? Below our rules, are Miss Nelson’s hand signal cards. I LOVE these!!! Below, is where our Classroom Contract will go.

Teacher Week 13-13

Peeking through the bottom of the picture is our color clip chart. I loved A Cupcake For The Teacher’s clip chart, so I used it and tweaked the colors for our classroom. To see how I incorporated money into our clip chart last year click {here}.

Teacher Week 13-12

Here is what it looks like from the back of my room! It’s pretty much an organized mess! Especially the U-table!! Still have lots of work left to do, but a few things I like to do with the kiddos…..they love to help and have input on their classroom! After all, it isn’t just mine!

Teacher Week 13-17

One thing I am super excited about starting this year is our classroom Reading Club! It is really just a motivational tool to use to get the kiddos reading at home. The kiddos read at their own pace to earn points. I will set the goals for our room. For example, 20 points = a special pencil, 40 points = a homework pass, 60 points = a snack pass, etc. Each kiddo has their own little chart to keep up with their points. They are just hung up on one of my cabinets with their classroom numbers on them.

You can find The Reading Club stuff {here} on Google Docs.

Teacher Week 13-4

Now, for some organizational tips….I am not the one to ask! I try. I really do. And, I am getting much better! Last year I completely redid my file cabinets which has been such a life saver! They are now color coded according to subject! How did I function before? This year’s goal was organizing my sight word packs! Nothing mind blowing. Just a good ‘ole binder and some labels!

Teacher Week 13-19  Teacher Week 13-20

Behind each tab are all the sight words from that Dolch word list.

Teacher Week 13-21 Teacher Week 13-22

These are perfect for Daily 5 word work! You can find all the packets {here}.

Everything in my store is 20% off until Monday! Use the code b2s13 for an additional percentage off! Thank you Amy Lemons for the adorable graphic!

And before I go I just had to share these pictures from today’s North Texas Blogger Meet Up!! Thank you Amy for sharing these pictures!! It’s truly a miracle that Shannon from Sweet-n-Sassy in 2nd and I made it in one piece! Y’all,… we got so lost that our location wouldn’t even show up on the GPS. 2 hours later….we arrived!! Funny stuff.

….and there you have it. My Sunday Smorgasbord all over the place!!!

Teacher Week ‘13: Let’s Talk about Me!

After reading this post you will soon see just how much of awesomely cool person I am. Only kidding.

If you read my post from last year, you saw that I am a wife… to a super cute guy, a princess’ momma, and a teacher just blogging about things that I enjoy! So, I am back today to share a little bit more about me for this fun linky party hosted by Blog Hoppin’!

1. This is my fifth year to teach first grade! I am still totally smitten for those little people. Love ‘em a ton!

2. If you walked into my classroom you would soon figure out that I am a lover of all things that involve a super cute cat with a red and white hat. My classroom is covered in it! Dare I say his name. More on that later.

3. If you follow me on Instagram, I’m sure you have figured out by now that I have a minor obsession with shopping. Yep, I’ll claim it as a minor obsession. I love to score cute items for cheap! Seriously how adorable are these pinstripe jeans?! Um, they were under 8 dollars!! Holla!!

4. Do you Costco? If you don’t, you must! I wouldn’t judge you one bit if you get a membership just to buy these insanely-ridiculously-delicious duet brownies! Pretty sure I am the only one in the house that eats these things! Problem? hmmm..maybe so, but they are worth the extra pounds! And, with a name like Duet Bites…who could resist?

5. I work at the best school on the planet. No doubt! We can do the harlem shake like non other!

6. I’ll be joining in on the Texas Blogger Meet Up this weekend! So excited to meet some super talented ladies!

7. I have the most random taste in music. I like it all. Oldies, Texas Country, Hip Hop, Disney Radio, Worship, …. love it all.

8. I am the worst at waking up early! Pretty sure I could sleep ‘til noon if I didn’t have an alarm screaming at me! Love this!

9. I love, super love, big love my new free app on my phone called Your Move! The messages are amazing! My husband got me hooked on it. I love to listen to it in the mornings … or maybe I should say afternoons while I am getting ready for the day.

10. I am getting a student teacher this year!! Whoop whoop!! This will be my first year to have one! I am WAY looking forward to it! Have you seen this fun Student Teacher Pack from Rachelle over at What the Teacher Wants? Way cute! Can’t wait to purchase it!

See how cool I am?!?

Something new and something old!

Let me just tell you that those back to school mornings are going to kick my priss and I right in the toosh! I am a sleeper! She is a sleeper! If it weren’t for my alarm, I can assure you I may just sleep ‘til noon! Perhaps that where my priss gets it from?!?! That girl can sleep!!

While she is sleeping, I try to get up and work on a few things for school. This week, I finished up my newest pack for The Recess Queen! I adore everything about this book. It is such a fun book for the beginning of the year, and also great to get back out and reread after a long break. If y’all know my by now, I love me some craftivities. So of course, I had to throw a few in for this book!

There are several different options included for both the Mean Jean and Katie Sue craftivities in this pack. Also included are 10 graphic organizers to use with the book. Here’s a look at a few that are included.

Now on to something old. I am Throwing Back with Cara Carroll today over at The First Grade Parade for some fun clock activities. Original post from January 25, 2013.

Ok, so let me just tell you that our little Disney trip totally inspired all things time in my room this week. We have been working *super* hard on telling time to hour and half hour. I just couldn’t resist on putting a little *magic* into my math lessons this week.
We started off with the basics…what are the different ways time is displayed, what are the parts of a clock, etc. I made this clock for the kiddos to use during our lesson. I love any learning that is completely hands on.
Smitten With First_Clock-1 Smitten With First_Clock-2
After filling in the clock, manipulating the hands to change the time, each kiddo made their very own clock. CanNOT believe that I didn’t get one stinkin’ picture of them. geez.
Today, we wrapped things up with this super fabulously ADORABLE clock princess and prince flip book!!! I mean seriously could they be any cuter?!?

You can snag up this little cutie in my Once Upon a Time packet. I just love how they turned out!!!
Here is a sneak peek at what is all included in my packet…AND it's 20% off this week ONLY!! Sale ends Friday, February 1st!
I’m off to devour some delicious Chiloso’s dinner!! It is byFAR one of our favorite places to eat!!! :)
Happy Friday sweet friends!
